Hanwha Life Esports and JD Gaming Meet in EWC 2026 Group Stage

Hanwha Life Esports and JD Gaming had both handled their opening EWC test, but this matchup promised a much clearer read on the group. Hanwha came in after beating MIBR.LOS and had also won recent five-game series against LYON and Bilibili Gaming. JDG had opened against LYON after domestic losses to Top Esports and BLG.

The individual matchups were difficult to ignore. Zeus, Kanavi, Zeka, Gumayusi and Delight faced Xiaoxu, JunJia, HongQ, GALA and Vampire. Kanavi meeting JDG added another human thread to a game already rich with regional history, while GALA and Gumayusi gave both teams a proven late-fight threat.

Hanwha selected Jarvan IV, Gnar, Akali, Ziggs and Camille. The composition could attack from several directions and had no shortage of ways to begin a fight. JDG answered with Naafiri, Syndra, Ambessa, Shen and Twisted Fate, adding global pressure and the ability to reinforce whichever side of the map erupted first.

JDG banned Orianna, Jayce, Lee Sin, Bard and Alistar. Hanwha removed Poppy, Vayne, Vi, Kai'Sa and Annie. Both teams came prepared to deny reliable setup, yet both still found drafts that rewarded aggression. At 1-0 apiece, hesitation was likely to be punished.
